University of Calgary

Close out the academic year at RenewFest, four days of festivities in support of faculty and staff wellness and growth, sponsored by the university’s Campus Mental Health Strategy. This year, each day of RenewFest represents one of the foundational pillars — Get Connected, Get Moving, Get Organized and Get Inspired.

The Pop-up Picnic and Bonfire will be a gold-certified sustainable event. With free events and activities happening across campus from April 30 to May 3, there are plenty of ways to get engaged.

Get connected with colleagues at the Pop-up Picnic and Bonfire.

Back for the second year and better than ever, this year’s Pop-up Picnic combines tasty treats and good eats from the Family Freezed, Squeezed and Dogged food trucks with the annual RenewFest bonfire. Bring your colleagues, pull up a hay bale, have a conversation, or challenge your co-workers to a friendly game of Connect 4 or Giant Jenga.

Get moving with a guided walk around campus.

Take a break from the office, pick your pace, and join your colleagues for a springtime stroll around campus. Walks are hosted at main campus, downtown campus, Spy Hill, Foothills and SMART.

Get organized with the KonMari Method.

Transform your space from clutter to calm with Helen Youn, Calgary’s only KonMari certified consultant. Attendees will learn the secrets of sparking joy through organization.

Get inspired at a traditional Indigenous smudge ceremony and sharing circle.

Led by Louise Baptiste, co-director of Indigenous initiatives in the Faculty of Nursing, the event provides an opportunity to connect with the university’s Indigenous strategy, ii’taa’poh’to’p. Participate in the smudge ceremony, an oral practice that uses traditional medicines to build respectful, trusting relationships, and take part in a sharing circle.
