The biggest University of Calgary alumni event of the year is back with 10 days of exciting in-person and virtual sessions, activities and special offers.
Hosted by the UCalgary Alumni Association, Alumni All-Access runs from Oct. 12 to 22 and is open to everyone — alumni, community members and their families. Space may be limited on some events, so we encourage you to register as early as possible.

Arch Awards Dinner Oct. 12
Alumni All-Access launches with the 2023 Arch Awards Dinner in MacEwan Hall. This year, eight outstanding alumni will be recognized in the six Arch Award categories. This year’s recipients are Edie Adams, BSc'85, MEDes'90; Dr. Jennifer Hatfield, PhD’01; Aaron Renert BSc'92, MSc'93, LLB'98, BEd'03 and Dr. Moshe Renert, BSc'85, PhD; Matthew Brister, BSc’81 and Tara Brister, BSc’82; Leah Schmidt, BA'17 (Women's Studies), BA'17 (International Relations); and Dr. Madeleine Cole, MD’98. As with past years, this event will also be live-streamed.
A 4-Decade Journey from Cross-Cultural Education to Anti-Racist Education Oct. 12
Join the Canadian Association for the Prevention of Discrimination and Harassment in Higher Education (CAPDHHE) for the keynote session of its annual conference. As part of Alumni All-Access, we’re offering a limited number of seats to alumni to attend. Join Dr. Verna St. Denis, PhD, member of the Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation and special adviser to the president of the University of Saskatchewan on anti-racism and anti-oppression, for a lecture on moving toward anti-racist education.
Science in the Cinema: Inside Out Oct. 14
Back by popular demand, this year’s Science in the Cinema screening features Inside Out, an animated feature about a hockey-loving 11-year-old named Riley who has been moved from her Midwest life in Minnesota to California. Her emotions — brought to life and named Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness — have different ideas about how best to navigate this life-changing event. This screening takes place at the Plaza Theatre in Kensington with free admission and popcorn. Afterward, join UCalgary researchers for a panel discussion and Q-and-A.
Marguerite Schumacher Memorial Alumni Lecture Oct. 14
Help us celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Marguerite Schumacher Memorial Alumni Lecture, presented by the Faculty of Nursing, at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino. The event will feature Debbie Smith, BN'94, Siksika First Nation member and co-ordinator of Iiyikinaami — Spirit Helper, as she leads you through her personal journey into Canada’s Indigenous health-care traditions and practices.

Addressing Food Insecurity at UCalgary Oct. 16
A 2021 survey by Meal Exchange found that 66.1 per cent of students at UCalgary experience some level of food insecurity, ranging from mild to severe. As the cost of food, housing and tuition continues to increase, more students are feeling the pinch on their plates. Field Trip: Behind-the-Scenes Access to the Human Performance Lab Oct. 21
Did you know that UCalgary’s Faculty of Kinesiology is the No. 1 sport-science school in North America? Bring your family or fellow alumni to get an exclusive tour of the Human Performance Lab (HPL). The HPL is a multidisciplinary centre that produces groundbreaking research to push the boundaries of knowledge and innovation and shape the future of the kinesiology field.
The lab is equipped with high-tech and custom-made equipment to conduct research in anatomy, biology, biomechanics, motor control and physiology. Field Trip: Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary Oct. 22
Join us at the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary, owned and operated by Georgina De Caigny, BSc (Eng)’11. You’ll get to tour this non-profit sanctuary dedicated to driving awareness and education surrounding wolfdog ownership, as well as meet a wolfdog and hear from Georgina herself about how she went from studying engineering to dedicating her life to rehoming and rehabilitating these incredible animals.

Since 1973, Dr. Bob Schulz, PhD, has been connecting the innovation dots at UCalgary. Join Dr. Bob for a session that brings innovation to real-time issues that are being faced in the health and wellness space.
