On Aug. 12, the University of Calgary started rolling out new Ricoh printers across campus. Why should anyone on campus be excited? There are at least six reasons:

Print wherever you go

Not only can you swipe your Unicard at your regular printer, but now with the "Follow-Me Print" feature, you can release your printing at any of the new Ricoh printers being installed across campus. Follow-Me Print means printing wherever you go. For students, this means avoiding printer lineups by printing from any new student printer across campus.

Reducing waste

Gone are the days of abandoned print jobs. Now you will swipe your Unicard to release your printing, meaning unnecessary print jobs will no longer sit waiting to be collected. This will reduce the university’s paper and ink usage, as well as electricity.

Easy scan to print

Now when you want to scan to email, all you have to do is swipe your Unicard and it will automatically be sent to your inbox. No more entering your email address or searching for your account — just swipe!

The new printers will be located throughout campus, including in the Taylor Family Digital Library.

Improved security

Ever have your printing go missing? Has it gotten lost in the shuffle of printing with your colleagues’ work? Swiping your Unicard to release your printing will make certain this no longer happens — making sure the right documents stay in the right hands.

Latest versions

The new Ricoh printers are the latest version, right from the factory. Print quickly and reliably on these brand new machines.

Reduced costs

For maintenance and materials, like paper and ink.

It is important to note that Unicards printed in 2007 or before will not work on our new printers. Users will still be able to use their login credentials, but will not be able to simply swipe their Unicard. Please make arrangements to get a replacement card should yours be from 2007 or earlier. Faculty and staff should refer to the Unicard site for more information.
