On Oct. 16, President Ed McCauley, Provost and Vice-President (Academic) Dru Marshall and Vice-President (Finance and Services) Linda Dalgetty welcomed all UCalgary staff and students to a pre-budget town hall.

The new provincial government is tabling their first budget on Oct 24. To allow for our community to participate in planning for an anticipated reduction in our funding, the budget process has been changed.

Until Nov. 1, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to share ideas, big or small, for consideration in this year’s budget process. Hosted through the online platform IdeaScale, users will have an opportunity to submit ideas for three main questions:

  1. How can we save money?
  2. How can we generate new revenue?
  3. How can we be more efficient?

We also encourage users to review, comment on and vote for ideas provided by the community. Sign in to IdeaScale at https://ucalgary.ideascale.com/ to get started.

Ideas brought forward will be assessed and reported back at the next budget town hall meeting in November.

For more updates, visit the budget webpage on the provost’s website.
